Project DetailsThis project aimed to investigate the relationship between neural activity, as measured by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and children’s life experiences. Specifically, the study examined whether there are correlates between children’s fMRI brain scans and their “Life Event Scores”, which measure the accumulation of stressful life events. The findings of the project may contribute to a deeper understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying the effects of childhood adversity on brain development and may help inform the design of more targeted interventions that support the mental health and wellbeing of children exposed to significant stressors. However, by the end of the project, no significant correlates were found between the neural measures and the Life Event Scores.
