Identification of Suspicious Objects in Security Camera Video

Security and safety problems rank among the most pressing issues of modern times. In the day-to-day life, the army encounters terrorist attacks. To thwart them, it is necessary to monitor the movements of people and their belongings in specific places. Sample videos of intentionally placed objects were provided by the ICT Corps. The projects goal is to provide a tool for locating suspicious objects that were left in the scene and to classify them.
The identification and tracking part can be solved by using DeepSORT. After that, an analysis algorithm associates the objects to their owners, and monitors changes in various parameters between frames. As required, alerts were issued in the video about suspicious objects.
The YOLO algorithm, which is trained on COCO, does not contain enough cases of bags without people around. Therefore, it shows poor performance when it comes to identifying the kinds of object this project is focused on. The analysis is strongly based on the success of the identification, so we would recommend using DeepSORT and an identification algorithm which was trained on cases where a variety of bags without people around them is shown.
